An Analysis of the Moderating Effect of Hope on the Relationship between Social Support and Psychological Well-being Among Older Adults Living Alone with Basic Care Services

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to analyze the moderating effect of hope between social support and psychological well-being among older adults living alone with basic care services. Subjects of this study were total 288 older adults above 65 in D city for empirical analysis. Techniques used in analyzing data were frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, structure equation model, Ping`s two-step approach. The results of this study were as follow. First, the psychological well-being of older adults was affected by the perception on social support of older adults. Second, thinking of hope had moderating effect on the perception of social support and the psychological well-being of older adults living alone with care services. From the above findings, thinking of hope have a positive effect on older adults living alone and low-level of social support. Finally, this paper attempted to provide some alternatives to effectively improve hope and their psychological well-being among older adults living alone with basic care services based on empirical findings.
